Planning: Pitch
My pitch is to make a music video and accompanying website for the song 'Girls and Boys' by Blur. It will address sexuality and gender issues which therefore meets the brief of a protest song being 'any music that addresses a social, cultural, political or economic issue or may be adopted by a minority or under-represented group as expressing their identity.'
The audience will engage with it because although it is a protest song it is still upbeat and fast-paced, and i aim to make the editing and shot types match the pace. Also, the socially conscious 16-25 year old audience would be aware of the different sexuality and gender issues that will be featured, and many may identify with them.
I will use digital convergence by referencing the website at the end of the music video as recommended in the examiners report, encouraging audience interaction via email sign-ups and featured tweets on the website and featuring the music video on the website.
