Brief 4: Music Video and online
You work for an independent media production company. You have been given the task of producing a three-minute music video for a protest song by a fictional band/ artist signed to Warner Music Group, and two pages for the working website for the band/ artist.
Target audience: A socially-conscious, 16-25, middle to upmarket demographic.
Planning: Reflection on moderator's report
For music videos:
-Editing needs to match the pace of the track
-Vertical mobile phone footage should be avoided
-Don't video actors walking away from behind
-Don't film people talking when we can't hear what they're saying
-Have to use representation so create meaning via costume
For websites:
-If you use a Wix template make sure to personalise it, but it is best to work from a blank one
-Need to be strong links between the products e.g. tweets, Instagram posts, merchandise, discussion of other products etc.
-The website is of equal value to the video so it should have an equal amount of time spent on it
Convergence:
-Use the same models/ actors on the website and video, use imagery from the partner product
-Mention the website at the end of the video
